Developing Potential within the Urban Community

Spirit of Excellence (SOE) is a non-for-profit organization, registered Charity with the CRA,  
founded by John and Colleen Kosti. 
This organization is the product of the couple’s twenty year vision and passion to enrich lives using the Creative Arts, Music, Health & Educational Tools. 
SOE’s charitable mission is to relieve poverty, through releasing creativity and develop potential through providing education in three components; 
Socially, Economically, and Spiritually
- Assisting in realizing the potential of children and families. 
The organization was founded in June 2003. Its buildings, encompass nearly 8,00 square feet of beautiful historical structure (being the original 'Morris Dry Goods Store from the 1940's) and is located within the urban community of Ford City in Windsor, Ontario, were purchased in June, 2005. 
SOE Creativity Training Centre, utilizes the aforementioned creative methods in order to build life changing skills, relieve poverty and to strengthen the community.

In 2006 - 2008  $75,000 was awarded to Spirit of Excellence.  
Distributed over three years to increase the number of children at risk participating in free after-school and weekend life-skills and leadership programs in a low-income neighbourhood of Windsor.

After School Drop-In Literacy "Ready to Read and Read On Book Club"

Small Library & Literacy Tutoring-Children ages 4 & up through the National Center for Learning Disabilities— “Get Ready to Read”

“Read On” Book Club for Children & Youth

Cooking lessons, laundry & instruction in household skills

Dance, flag twirling & fitness studio - instruction on health & nutrition

Fine Arts Studio& Crafts

“Sunshine Juice Bar” for nutritional teaching, conversation skills and after-school snacks as well as healthy meals

15 Computer Centre for Computer training & skills development

Free clothing & emergency supplies for children & women open weekdays & Saturdays.

Women’s/ Expectant mothers’/new mothers’ Luncheons and Support for Guidance & Skill Development to Women in Need

Queen Esthers Finishing School and Women's Life Development program
