STUDENT ENROLLMENTS: It is necessary to set an appointment for an Parent/Student/Teacher Interview or an adult intake with assessment of needs. This is done pre-booked for our Instructor/s, or social worker with School Director to meet with the parent/s, child/children. This gives the family an opportunity to tour Spirit of Excellence Facilities, see a sampling of all programs available, and for us to see what the child's/Student's interests are and put them into the appropriate class.

~ Our mission is to relieve poverty through releasing creativity, meeting needs           physically, economically and socially.  We work with children and youth from all walks of life - providing equal opportunities to all!
~ Our means of developing potential is through using creative arts and educational tools as disciplines for character and life skill development

We offer weekly courses continuously and periodically throughout the year, for children ages 6 and up, in the subjects below:

Teen Queen Esther's Finishing School - girls ages 12 - 17

Manners Academy (Boy's & Girls) - 6 week program instructing in table manners and etiquette. Using creative arts, drama and games to build skills in conversation, confidence, manners and self esteem.
- Begins: every 6 weeks - phone for exact time for Boys class

SOE FLAG CO. REHEARSALS: to be announced—on Saturdays and another time during week
- New costumes, new fancy flags are in for special events and leather flag drill shoes in all sizes needed! Your child will be sized upon returning to SOE

Dance Class schedule:

Dance is held on Saturday from 1:30—2:45 pm for intermediate level or ages 13 and up

3:00 - 4:00 pm for beginner dancers or 12 and under

~ The QE Wardrobe Room will be open for free garments and instruction in building a working wardrobe on a budget.

Monday and Wednesdays: Counseling & Needs Assessments - Beginning soon - SOE is a Field Training Site for the University of Windsor's Social Work Dept. and in October we will begin two more days weekly for personal needs assessments, and small group and individual training and support. - An Addictions Counselor is also available for group drop in sessions and other needs - view new calendar Fridays Empowered with Excellence: starting: Friday TBA * new start date time: 10:00 am - 12:00 noon Men and Women welcome Women's Support Luncheon and Training Mondays & Wednesday 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm Phone to register your attendance and more details - to receive customized training and support - you must schedule a Need's Assessment with our Case Manager, on Monday's or Wednesdays. Computer Life Skills Thursdays - 6 weeks - Intermediate level or word processing computer skills. - pre-register your attendance Workplace development, computers, literacy and self esteem building lessons. Hands on instruction from retired and certified teachers, and professional consultants. New & Expectant Mom's Journey into Parenting Group September 9th - 1:00 - 3:00 pm - please phone to register and share personal needs and baby, or children items needed. Fruit juice smoothies, and healthy food & snacks provided as needed for children in the community, or those coming after school for dance classes and flag drills. Colleen Kosti discovered that there was a great need for her students coming to flag classes, to be energized and strengthened physically before training in the flags. Many of the children were very weak and unmotivated from poor eating habits, and found it challenging to learn the art of flag twirling, so she decided that this was to become a pre-class regimen - to serve healthy, energizing snacks, or full meals for the needy children. In doing this the results have been tremendous, and also taking this time to develop social skills, conversation and education on nutrition and health - has been a fulfillment to her vision in developing excellence in life skills. So now, instead of hamburgers and snacks like chips and candy bars brought in by hungry students - Spirit of Excellence Creativity Training Center provides good healthy training and food for the after school students. The 'Sunshine Juice Bar' was opened at Summer Camp Xcellence 2005 - and will continue to be open during all classes and for the food programs throughout the year. *Thank you for the generous sponsorship for 2006, 2007 and 2008 by Jump Start Nutritious Food program, Windsor.* PARENT'S SPECIAL EVENTS: Every six weeks SOE holds Workshops hosted by our Instructors and Children's Program participants, for your personal enjoyment and educational information. check back for new updates when the next SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE presentation event will be. *LITERACY 'READ ON' DROP IN PROGRAM* is gearing up to launch as soon as enough funds are raised to provide supplies and costs of more books.
