   Interviewing for Volunteers: 
~To volunteer for helping with Saturday programs and after school programs at the centre during the week. 
~Interviewing for Administrator - must share vision and mission for SOE - be organized, take direction and able to complete tasks on own

~ clear criminal record check required for adults over 18
~ must attend orientation on security policies, routines and program descriptions
~ 6 month commitment if assisting with children's programs

TOURS OF SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE COMING IN 2009
Please Join us for our Open House and a Personal Tour! 

All you have to do is love children, women in need of guidance and skills, and be willing to help others, and we’ll show you the rest!

· Guitar Instructor / Assistant for Guitar Group Class 

· Repairs & Maintenance / Group work cleanups (come for a day to assist with projects)

· Snack & food preparation, serving and cleanup 

· Reception & enrolment

· Office, admin work

· Finishing School Instruction (requires completing the Queen Esther's Finishing School program)

· Collating – manual putting together

· Cleaning or organizing items such as
clothes, crafts etc…

· Sewing Assistant & organizer for sewing notions/fabrics

· Window Display

· Craft Instructor or craft class
assistant

·  Art Instructor or art class assistant

·  Children’s literacy & book club monitors

· Library monitoring and set-up

· Rides for children to SOE

· Financial sponsors

• Our most needed positions at this time are:

  • executive administrative assistant
  • hand out flyers - door to door
  • Guitar Instructors - to take a turn in the teaching schedule or start a new group
  • a driver to pick up and drive home children who have moved from the immediate area
  • clothing organizers
  • literacy tutor for children
  • library organizing for the small new library we have 
  • media editing mentor/instructor
  • filming assistant 
  • monthly financial supporters
  • Saturday receptionist

 

Spirit of Excellence provides it's volunteers and instructors:


• Behavioural management instruction for all instructors and classroom assistants.  
• Plan to Protect certification for all instructors and classroom assistants in policies to protect children.  
• Policy checks and police clearances done on all volunteers, instructors and classroom assistants
• Safe, secure learning environment with positive role modeling and instruction
• Occupational Health & Safety Instruction
• Safe Food Preparation Instruction
• Volunteers come in to apply through an initial interview and application
• Upon acceptance an orientation training is scheduled.  
• Volunteer Orientation training takes several hours (depending on position/job training)
• Volunteer is added to SOE monthly schedule-schedules may be flexible
